A 22G 15cm needle has been threaded to just next to the L5 nerve root and extradural, extravascular location confirmed with the injection of a small amount of air, prior to injecting a mixture of Celestone and Marcaine.

CT can be used to guide needles into small bony apertures, in this case to perform a L5 nerve root block.
