Presentation

Acute breathlessness and pleuritic pain. Background hemoglobin SC disease (HbSC).

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Chest

x-ray

Bilateral nipple piercings, specifically these are known as "nipple straight barbells".

No acute lung findings of note. No pleural effusion.  No cardiac enlargement.

Evidence of AVN of the left humeral head consistent with history of hemoglobin SC disease (HbSC).
