Presentation

Fall onto outstretched arm.

Patient Data

Age: 15-20 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

The PA view of the right wrist depicts a beak-like bony protrusion on the lateral aspect of the distal radius. The protrusion arises from the closed epiphysis. There are no fractures or dislocations.

The radial beak is one of the common normal variants of the distal radius and should not be mistaken for a fracture.
