Presentation
History of treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis.
Patient Data
Large, teardrop shaped, peripherally calcified mass projects over the right upper lung.
There is an elliptical fat-containing pleural based mass with peripheral calcifications in the superior aspect of the right oblique fissure. Calcified granuloma of the lateral inferior right lower lobe.
Small bilateral pleural effusions. Cardiomegaly. findings suggesting pulmonary hypertension. Compression fracture of T12. Hiatal hernia. Partially imaging right renal cystic appearing lesion.
Case Discussion
This peripherally calcified, teardrop or elliptical shaped, fat attenuating lesion situated in the superior aspect of the right oblique fissure, has been unchanged on many prior imaging studies (not shown) dating back 10 years. Patient has a history of therapy for pulmonary tuberculosis many years prior. These finding and history are consistent with oleothorax.
