Presentation
Longstanding refractory epilepsy. Left sided weakness for one day. Possible stroke.
Patient Data
Open grey matter lined cleft with CSF density extending from the right lateral ventricular body to frontoparietal cortex peripherally.
Absent cavum septum pellucidum.
Open grey matter lined cleft with CSF density extending from the right lateral ventricular body to frontoparietal cortex peripherally.
Case Discussion
Schizencephaly is divided into two morphological types: open and closed lip
With open lip, as in this case, the cleft walls are separated and filled with CSF. The frontoparietal region is the commonest location as in this patient.
It is one of the structural causes of epilepsy.
