Orbital dermoid cyst

Presentation

Swelling at the lateral aspect of the right orbit.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
mri

There is a 5 x 10 mm high signal intensity (on T1 and T2 sequences) cyst-like lesion contacting the lateral wall of the right orbit that shows a signal drop on fat suppression sequences.

Case Discussion

An orbital dermoid cyst is a benign fat-containing lesion that occurs at the medial or lateral angle of the orbit. On MRI, fat content appears hyperintense in T1 and T2 sequences, and confirmation of the diagnosis requires fat suppression techniques.
