Presentation

Hit on the face with a bat. The left eye was closed shut due to swelling and could not be clinically assessed.

Complete posterior subluxation of the left lens which is seen lying within the vitreous humor.

Case Discussion

Blunt trauma to the eye can deform the globe by stretching and tearing the zonular attachments that hold the lens in position. The lens may dislocate posteriorly or, less commonly, anteriorly.
