Case Discussion

Features of os peroneum, a small sesamoid bone located proximal to the base of the fifth metatarsal within the substance of the peroneus longus tendon as it arches around the cuboid.

It should not be mistaken for the much rarer os vesalianum (an apophysis) or an avulsion fracture of the base of the fifth metatarsal.
