Presentation

Pain and swelling of the anterior right knee and infrapatellar region.

Patient Data

Age: Adolescent
Gender: Male
x-ray

Symptomatic right knee:

Fragmented apophysis at tibial tuberosity. Overlying soft tissue swelling is noted. Soft tissue haziness is noted in inferior most part of fat pad; obliterating shadow of inferior most part of patellar ligament.

Asymptomatic left knee:

No fragmented apophysis at tibial tuberosity. No overlying soft tissue swelling. Normal lucency in fat pad. Note well-defined soft tissue shadow of patellar ligament.

Case Discussion

Findings of right knee lateral radiograph in view of clinical background favors Osgood-Schlatter disease.
