Abnormal chest radiograph for a patient with recurrent hemoptysis

Patient Data

Age: 25 years old
Gender: Male

Scout image revealed two well defined nodules, one at the right lower lung zone lobulated in shape and the other one rounded at left lower lung zone. At least two arteriovenous malformations with feeding vessels are noted at posterior basal segment of right lower lobe giving the appearance of comma shape nodules. Another similar one seen at left lower lobe.

Case Discussion

The patient has multiple arteriovenous malformation in the nasal and oral mucosa, lungs and liver. Cerebral angiography ruled out cerebral AVMs. The patient was diagnosed Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangectasia and coiling of pulmonary AVMs is on the treatment plan.
