Patient Data

Age: 12 years
Gender: Female

Zoomed in frontal projection demonstrates numerous small round well-defined sclerotic foci in all the carpal bones, the distal radial epiphysis and the bases of several metacarpals.

The other views were unremarkable.

Case Discussion

Multiple bone islands (enostoses) are in keeping with osteopoikilosis which is a rare inherited benign sclerosing bone dysplasia and is usually incidentally found on imaging. Patients are completely asymptomatic.
