A well defined rounded cystic lesion is seen occupying the pancreatic head. No enhancement of its wall and the pancreatic tissue and superior mesenteric vein are stretched around the lesion. The lesion was first discovered on ultrasonography and confirmed by CT.
Case Discussion
In view of previous attack of pancreatitis, cystic lesion related to the pancreatic should prompt the diagnosis of pancreatic pseudocyst. Infection of the cyst leads to abscess formation. Other differential consideration includes choledochal cyst, cystic neoplasm, mesenteric cyst and abscess.
