ultrasound

Ultrasound image of the solid thyroid mass. The lesion is tall as broad and it has no lucent surrounding "halo".

Case Discussion

There are two ultrasound criteria here causing concern:

  1. the lesion is tall as broad
  2. the lesion has no lucent surrounding "halo". The halo is an important ultrasound indicator of a likely benign lesion. The converse is true as well

This was a confirmed papillary carcinoma thyroid.
