Parapharyngeal lipoma

Presentation

Foreign body sensation, dysphagia. Right sided discomfort.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male
ct

Large mass with homogeneous fat attenuation in the right parapharyngeal space, displacing the calcified internal carotid artery and protruding into the pharynx. Subfascial extension into the prevertebral musculature also seems to be present.

Case Discussion

Lipoma is the most common benign tumor of the head and neck region. However, involvement of the deep neck compartments is rather exceptional.
