Parotid lipoma

Presentation

Swelling in left side of neck. No history of fever or weight loss.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Right parotid gland appears normal in morphology and vascularity.

Left parotid gland appears bulky in size and hypoechoic as compared to normal right parotid gland parenchyma. There are hyperechoic linear strands seen within. No evidence of calcification or cystic change.

 

Case Discussion

Ultrasound guided FNAC followed by histopathological evaluation.

Aspiration note : FNA done from swelling left parotid region. Fatty material aspirated.

Microscopical examination: Smears showing adipose cells & occasional fibrous tissue. No cellular atypia or pleomorphism.

Features suggestive of benign lipomatous lesion - parotid lipoma.
