Presentation
Atraumatic fracture while walking. Obvious deformity of the right tight upon inspection. Known history of breast cancer.
Patient Data
Radiographs of the right tight revealed a spiral femoral fracture.
There are diffuse mixed lytic and sclerotic lesions on the skeleton (see more below). At the fracture site, specifically, a large lytic lesion is noted.
Pelvis and elbow radiographs with no signs of fractures.
More diffuse mixed lytic and sclerotic lesions on the skeleton are noted.
Case Discussion
Given the atraumatic mechanism of trauma, the present case can be classified as a pathological fracture, this is further reinforced by the known history of breast cancer.
The radiographs performed at the emergency department revealed mixed lytic and sclerotic lesions diffusely scattered on the skeleton, an appearance compatible with breast cancer bone metastasis.
