Fever and breathlessness

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

PCP pneumonia. Post-processed coronal lung window images using a MinIP algorithm accentuating the tracheobronchial tree and ground glass opacity.

Case Discussion

PCP pneumonia - utility of minimum intensity projection (MinIP)

HRCT thorax revealed perihilar and lower lobar interlobular septal thickening and ground glass opacities. Pneumatoceles were detected in left upper lobe.

Laboratory data revealed that patient is seropositive for HIV with a low CD4 count.

Patient improved with anti PCP antibiotics.
