Chest wall deformity.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
x-ray
  • blurring of the right heart border
  • horizontal posterior ribs
  • anterior ribs with more vertical course than normal 
  • displacement of the heart towards the left
  • obliteration of the descending aortic interface 
  • concave deformity of the anterior chest wall best seen on the lateral view

Case Discussion

Pectus excavatum is a congenital chest wall deformity characterized by concave depression of the sternum, resulting in cosmetic and radiographic alterations.
