High blood pressure. Patient has neurofibromatosis type 1.

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Laparoscopic adrenalectomy specimen.

Transverse section of left adrenal gland with pale tan, focally congested medullary mass. The peripheral rim of yellow to dark tan is the normal adrenal cortex, and there is surrounding inked adipose tissue.

pathology

Pheochromocytoma with nests ('zellballen') of polygonal cells with slightly basophilic cytoplasm, and variable nuclear pleomorphism.
