Plantar fibromatosis

Case contributed by Maulik S Patel
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Nodule in the right foot midsole region for about 2 years. No history of trauma or local pain.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

There is a well-defined lesion at the clinically palpable swelling. The lesion measures about 34 x 14 x 6 mm. It involves plantar fascia which appears to enter and exits the lesion. The lesion is non-compressible, lobulated, solid, heterogeneous, hypoechoic without calcification/ cystic changes. Posterior acoustic enhancement is present. There is no intralesional flow. Rest of the plantar fascia is normal.

There is focal hypoechoic thickening involving contralateral asymptomatic left foot.

Case Discussion

A young female presented with a right sole painless lesion. Ultrasound findings favor right foot fibroma from plantar fascia. There is a presence of much smaller plantar fibroma in the asymptomatic left foot.
