Presentation

Thought to have stood on a foreign body. Now painful lump on the heel.

Patient Data

Age: 10
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Typical small, focal thickening of the skin and subcutaneous tissues with dramatic increase in vascularity.  Note the central echogenic punctum.  No foreign body.

Case Discussion

These ultrasonic findings are typical of a plantar wart and should not be confused with the inflammatory changes associated with a foreign body.
