AIDS stage of HIV infection. Syphilis treatment
Patient Data
Frontal chest radiograph demonstrate bilateral perihilar airspace opacity. No pneumothorax is evident. In the clinical context of AIDS this is highly suggestive of pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP) opportunistic infection.
CT chest shows diffuse bilateral ground glass opacities with a perihilar and basilar distribution. There are also small areas of focal consolidation in the lower lobes. No pulmonary cysts or pneumothorax are evident. No signs of pleural effusion. No hilar or mediastinal lymph nodes were observed, only lymph nodes in the normal range. Heart and great vessels of the thorax within normal limits. Visible segments of liver, spleen and adrenal glands without lesions
