Poliomyelitis with fracture

Presentation

Tripped over. Knee pain.

Patient Data

Age: 30
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is a comminuted, impacted fracture through the distal femoral metadiaphysis.  The bones are markedly osteopenic - especially so given that this is a young male - and gracile.

Case Discussion

The patient has a known history of childhood poliomyelitis.
