Patient Data

Age: 55
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Planning scan prior to transplant biopsy - abnormality identified at renal hilum.

Creatinine 120. For further delineation MRA chosen.

3.5cm pseudoaneurysm at the hilum of the right renal transplant, with the internal yin-yang sign on doppler ultrasound.

Renal artery pseudoanuerysm at the anastomosis site.

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates a post-operative renal transplant pseudoaneurysm, presumably at the anastomosis site with the iliac artery.

It was detected incidentally prior to an ultrasound guided biopsy - ironic given one of the very rare complications of a renal biopsy is a pseudoaneursym formation.
