Presentation

Aggravating pain and loss of motion range during functional treatment of a non-dislocated subcapital humeral fracture.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

A geographic subarticular area of humeral head surrounded by a hypointense line on T1 with high signal intensity on T2 fat sat. Intact shape of femoral head with smooth articular surface. Features are suggestive of avascular necrosis of humeral head.

Linear bone marrow edema is noted along the humeral neck with a hypointense line on T1 and T2 fat sat, suggestive of fracture neck of humerus.
