Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

Avulsion fracture of the Posterior cruciate ligament insertion into the posterior tibial eminence with the avulsed fragment is comminuted and totally separated from the mother bone.Minimal amount of joint effusion within the suprapatellar recess.

Case Discussion

Posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fractures can be classified as:

  • type I: no displacement
  • type II: mild displacement
  • type: III totally displaced. 

This case presents as a posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fracture type III.
