Posterior cruciate ligament tear

Presentation

Knee pain, edema and instability after fall from a motorbike.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

T1 and PD signal intensity heterogenety within PCL associated with its tear. ACL, lateral and medial menisci are unremarkable. A semimembranosus muscle bursitis connecting with joint cavity best seen on axial PDW images. Moderate synovitis and  suprapatellar bursitis are also seen. A small area of bone marrow edema within lateral femoral epicondyle and medial part of tibial plateau associated with its contusion.

Iso-hyperintense signal on PDW images within medial collateral ligament with its thickness reflecting its partial tear - grade 2.
