Presentation
Patient is complaining of flu-like symptoms 1 week ago associated with sudden weakness of the left leg with subjective fever, headache and one episode of vomiting and dizziness
Patient Data
MRI with contrast images shows bilateral frontal sinus enhancing mucosal thickening - picture of acute sinusitis. There is dural enhancement. There is left frontal subdural and left parafalacine peripherally enhancing collections in-keeping with subdural Abscess. There is minimal midline shift to the right side measuring around 3 mm.
CT shows anterior and posterior frontal bone destruction and erosions in keeping with osteomyelitis associated with minimal soft tissue swelling.
Case Discussion
Pott’s puffy tumor could complicate and extended intracranially when the posterior plate of the frontal bone is destructed, the patient will present with neurological deficits.
It is surgical emergency and abscess should be drained and antibiotic should be given.
