Presentation
Chronic abdominal pain and discomfort. History of pancreatitis few months back.
Patient Data
There is a well-defined cystic hypoattenuating, enhancing lesion noted superior to the body of pancreas, inferior to the greater curvature of the stomach, anteroinferior to the spleen, and anterior to the upper pole of the left kidney. The lesion is abutting the superior border of the body of the pancreas and abutting and displacing the splenic vessels.
Imaging features are suggestive of pancreatic pseudocyst.
Annotated image showing position of the pancreatic pseudocyst.
Case Discussion
Pseudocyst formation is one of the most common complications of acute pancreatitis. Results from organization of a peripancreatic collection of fluid during the later stages of pancreatitis.
