Well defined ovoid mass projected over the right hilum. Note the 'hilum overlay' sign - the pulmonary artery being identified separately from this 'mass'.

CT chest

Contrast filled pulmonary vein aneurysm anterior to the right main pulmonary artery and lateral to the SVC.

Case Discussion

The mass projected over the right pulmonary artery on the plain film, was proven on CT to be one of the less common causes of a 'hilar' mass in the form of a pulmonary vein aneurysm / varix.
