Rasmussen encephalitis

Presentation

Recurrent continuous intractable motor seizures (epilepsy partialis continua).

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
mri

Unilateral left sided cerebral atrophy is seen with multiple T2/FLAIR hyperintense areas in left basal ganglia and parieto-occipital region, and ex-vaccuo dilatation of left lateral ventricle (particularly trigone).

Case Discussion

In view of typical history of continuous partial motor seizures, and typical MR morphology-signal pattern, Rasmussen encephalitis is considered as primary diagnosis.
