The right renal artery has a "string of beads" appearance consistent with fibromuscular dysplasia. There is a large aneurysm arising from a superior branch. Left nephrectomy.
Case Discussion
Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is the most common cause of renal artery aneurysms. Approximately 40% of patients with FMD develop a renal artery aneurysm, although renal artery aneurysms themselves are considered a rare entity.
