Renal cell carcinoma

Presentation

History of right renal mass for evaluation.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
ct

Contrast enhanced CT scan of the chest abdomen and pelvis was performed in the arterial and porto-venous phases. The examination reveals a large heterogeneously enhancing lesion involving the right kidney with metastatic deposits involving the liver (segment 6), and both adrenals. No pancreatic or contra-lateral kidney deposits are noted. Multiple lung metastasis as well as right pleural and pericardial deposits are noted.

x-ray

Homogeneous opacities at the right upper zones, with broad based to the pleura, in keeping with pleural lesions.
A round homogenous opacity in the left upper lobe in keeping with one of the lung nodule seen in the CT Thorax.

Nuclear medicine

Bone scan reveals right side upper ribs uptake corresponding to the site of the pleural deposits.

Biopsy of the renal mass reveals renal cell carcinoma, clear cell type.
