Head injury. On dialysis long term.

Age: 70 years
Gender: Male

Subtle but definite widespread lytic change throughout the skull vault.

Case Discussion

Appearances are known as a "pepper pot" skull and are due to the effects of elevated parathyroid hormone causing widespread osteoclastic activity in an attempt to clear phosphate from the blood.
