Three selected images from an MRI of the lumbar region of a child demonstrate marked increase in size of the paraspinal muscles on the right. The muscle is enlarged, isointense to adjacent muscles on T1, heterogeneously hyperintense on T2 STIR and demonstrates relatively homogeneous increased contrast enhancement.
Case Discussion
Features are consistent with a soft tissue sarcoma, which in this case was confirmed to be a rhabdomyosarcoma.
