Presentation

Knee pain and swelling for two years.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

Diffuse hyaline articular cartilage thinning.

Thickened edematous knee synovium (synovitis).

Marked joint effusion.

Peripheral erosion of the posterior aspect of the medial tibial plateau.

Subchondral marrow signal changes.

Case Discussion

Clinical and radiologic data highly suggestive of rheumatoid arthritis. The diagnosis was clinically established shortly after.
