Presentation
Fallen on his right hip a day before. Tenderness and hematoma at right dorsal ilium. Stable pelvic ring. Pain during right lower extremity movements. No internal organ injury.
Patient Data
A slight transparent line is seen on the right iliac crest which is best seen on the AP view.
On the magnified images the fracture line is better visible.
Fracture line is more clearly visible on the control images.
Callus is clearly seen on both projections.
Case Discussion
Iliac wing fractures are very uncommon. An isolated iliac wing fracture is a stable benign injury and can be managed conservatively. Serious and potentially life-threatening associated abdominal, vascular and/or neurological injuries should be excluded.
