Presentation

Severe lower abdominal pain. Bedside ultrasound demonstrates free intra-abdominal fluid.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound
  • heterogeneous vascular structure measuring 6.2 cm within the left adnexa, separate to the left ovary
  • large volume of echogenic intraperitoneal free fluid
  • the uterus is empty
  • both ovaries are normal

Case Discussion

Ruptured left tubal ectopic pregnancy with large volume hemoperitoneum.

The patient's beta HCG was elevated at 850 mIU/mL. 

The patient underwent laparoscopy and left salpingectomy, which confirmed the diagnosis.
