Salivary gland tumor subtypes (table)

Case contributed by Frank Gaillard
Diagnosis not applicable

Salivary gland tumors are initially confusing. The table above includes the parotid gland, lacrimal gland (modified salivary glands which are prone to the same pathologies), submandibular gland and minor salivary glands. Not all the numbers add up to 100%, but the references are patchy. It is a good rule of thumb however, that as the gland gets smaller the proportion of malignancies increases.
