Presentation

Mild back pain. Mother reports increased prominence of the thoracic kyphosis.

Patient Data

Age: 14 year-old
Gender: Male
x-ray

Anterior wedging of T8, T9, T10 and T11. Thoracic spine kyphosis. Spina bifida L5.

Case Discussion

This is a common disease which results in kyphosis of the thoracic or thoracolumbar spine in pediatric patients.

In this age group, this is a diagnosis that should be remembered, and the diagnosis can be done with plain film.
