Case contributed by Frank Gaillard

Selected images through the brain of a child demonstrate bilateral clefts extending from the cortical surface to the ventricles. On the right, the cleft is widely open whereas on the left the sides are in contact with no CSF seen between them. On both sides, the walls of the cleft are lined by abnormal grey matter (polymicrogyria). Finding as consistent with bilateral schizencephaly, open lip on the right and closed lip on the left.
