Scimitar syndrome

Case contributed by Dr Vincent Tatco

The patient has been treated for pneumonia. Prior chest radiographs show persistent right paracardiac opacity.

The right hemithorax is smaller than the left with ipsilateral mediastinal shift and blurred right heart border due to pulmonary hypoplasia.

There is an anomalous vessel resembling a Turkish sword (scimitar) in the right lung.
