Cortical break is seen involving the medial cortex of shaft of 2nd metatarsal near the neck. It is surrounded by edema and callous formation.

CT confirms the fracture and healing callous around the fracture site.
Case Discussion
A recent history of atypical physical activity is antecedent to stress fractures in the absence of any trauma event or in presence of a trivial event. 2nd to 4th metatarsals are commonly affected in the foot.
