Septic arthritis of the 1st interphalangeal joint

Presentation

Insidious onset of pain, swelling and redness of the 1st interphalangeal joint.

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Male

The 1st interphalangeal joint space is severely diminished uniformly, with indistinct articular cortex and destruction of the adjacent bone. The surrounding soft tissues are severely distended circumfrentially.
