Severe wrist tenosynovitis (MRI)

Wrist swelling and pain

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Male

Tenosynovitis affects multiple extensor compartments, worse in the 2nd and 3rd.  Associated severe tendinosis of the extensor carpi radialis brevis and extensor pollicis longis tendons.  Mild thickening of the dorsal carpus synovium. Small DRUJ effusion and central perforation of the TFC disc proper. 

Case Discussion

This severity and the degree of widespread tenosynovitis raises the likelihood of an inflammatory arthritis, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
