Presentation
Blocked nose, mouth breathing and headache
Patient Data
Diffuse extensive marked mucosal thickening and total soft tissue opacification of the sphenoid and frontal sinuses, both maxillary antra as well as the ethmoidal complexes on both sides, that appears merging with the nasal turbinates and almost totally obliterating the nasal cavities.
Soft tissue window images show hyperdense material within the nasal cavity and the left maxillary antra suggesting fungal infection.
Case Discussion
This case represents a classic example of sinonasal polyposis.
There is total soft tissue opacification of the paranasal sinuses and almost the whole nasal cavity.
Fungal infection is a common association, suggested by high attenuating material within the left maxillary antrum and both nasal cavities.
