Small cell carcinoma of the bladder

Presentation

Bladder mass found incidentally on work up for persistent urinary tract infections. Long smoking history.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female

There is an irregular, mildly hypoenhancing  4.7 x 2.1 x 4.2 cm mass along the right bladder wall. No evidence of metastatic disease in the abdomen or pelvis.

Surgical pathology demonstrated muscle-invasive small cell carcinoma arising from invasive high grade urothelial carcinoma.
