Soft palate tumor

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

The patient presented with left palatoglossal arch pain associated with mouth paraesthesiae. ?Recurrence of previously resected cancer.

Patient Data

Age: 63
Gender: Male

Resection of the right maxillary alveolar bone, hard palate and the inferior aspect of the right maxillary sinus to the pterygoid plates shown with soft tissue flap recon. Surgical clips in infra-temporal fossa. Dental implants seen.

Soft tissue thickening of soft palate especially on the left where it appears nodular.

No widening of the pterygopalatine fossa or foramen rotundum to indicate perineural spread along the maxillary division of the trigeminal nerve.

No cervical lymphadenopathy. No destructive osseous lesion.

Background of excision of oral cavity tumor 9 years ago. The left sided soft palatal thickening warrants direct visualization to exclude tumor recurrence.
