Solitary pulmonary nodule: melanoma metastasis

Presentation

Febrile. Septic screen.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

A 2 cm left lower lobe nodule, projecting over the cardiac silhouette on the frontal view. No focal consolidation. Both costodiaphragmatic angles are blunted. Normal cardiomediastinal contour.

Case Discussion

This patient has a known history of malignant melanoma, and this pulmonary nodule is rapidly growing and represents a metastasis. The pulmonary nodule was subsequently proven on CT. 

The nodule lies in a check area, and may be subtle to some people.
