Presentation
Sensory defects of the lower extremities and gait disturbances.
Patient Data
Note: This case has been tagged as "legacy" as it no longer meets image preparation and/or other case publication guidelines.
Sagittal T1-weighted image shows a large intradural extramedullary mass with a homogeneous hyperintense signal at T10/11, in close connection with the spinal cord.
Axial T2-weighted image shows the lesion demonstrating hyperintense signal. The spinal cord is displaced and flattened.
Features are typical of intradural spinal lipoma.
Case Discussion
Smoothly marginated mass with a homogeneous hyperintense signal on both T1- and T2-weighted images, typical of a spinal intradural lipoma. The lesion belongs to a broader spectrum of fat-containing developmental lesions of the spine. Large lesions may become symptomatic.
